PARKDALE MARKET LOFTS

The text and images below relate to the building that we designed at 12 Hamilton Avenue. During the course of construction a number of design changes were made that we had no control over, and the building that was completed is not aligned with our design proposal. Cost overruns are a part of construction and we typically are involved in solutions that reduce cost while respecting the design intent for the project. The grey box that was built instead should act as a clear indication that we were not afforded this opportunity.

The design of this 30-Unit building refers to this neighborhood's industrial past.  The brick framework on the front elevation borrows from the adjacent warehouse buildings and is articulated using a modern architectural language that features a staggered glazing pattern.  Corten steel fins mounted in a random pattern serve to enhance the variation of the front elevation.  Situated adjacent to Parkdale Park, this is the first re-development project on the block and it will  create an engaging backdrop to the park.
