// This project represents a change of thinking of the type of development that should be undertaken in existing suburban areas. While common to central areas of the city, this residential building will be one of the only project in Orleans to include commercial uses on the ground floor. This project also breaks the typical convention of pushing the building towards the main arterial road, and instead sets the building back from the street. The end result is that the building is able to properly address and animate the street, and because signage is applied directly to the building unsightly signage boards that litter the suburban landscape can be removed. The building is comprised of a series of masonry volumes that are articulated with a series of two storey vertical bands. The top level of the building is set back from the building face to reduce the visual impact of the street.
